Before the Open House at 10:15-11:00 Workshop: “Planting a Sustainable Garden”

Come early at 10:15 and attend a presentation by Sarah Endriss of Asarum Land Design, on how to analyze your site to inform your planting choices. Learn why soil, water, and light conditions matter and how understanding plant communities can determine the success of your garden. The workshop will end in time for the plant sale.

Get locally produced honey and expert beekeeping advice from Cairnsgrove Gardens and Apiary

Cairnsgrove will offer their local honey, creamed honey, flavored honey, comb honey, honey sticks, and their own beauty products including beeswax handcream, moisturizing lotion, and handmade soap. They also make “board butter,” a beeswax-based product for sealing cutting boards. Owner, Dan Boylan, will be on hand to answer your questions about beekeeping from 11:00-3:00.

Workshop: “Providing Habitat for Birds in Your Garden”

Attend a presentation on using native plants to create a bird-friendly yard by landscape designer and Wyncote Audubon member, Cindy Nuss at 12:00-12:30.

Workshop: “Gardening for Butterflies”

Beverly Auvil, owner of Beverly Auvil Landscape Design & Installation, has more than 40 years of experience designing home landscapes with native plants. Attend her workshop at 2:00-2:30 and learn how to attract and provide habitat for butterflies in your garden.

Start the morning with a Bird Walk in Edgehill Woods at 10:00

Join a bird walk through Edgehill Woods led by Leigh Altadonna from the Wyncote Audubon Society at 10:00-11:00. Walk up the driveway and meet on the lawn of Edgehill Castle. Bring binoculars if you own them. You will return in time for the plant sale.

 Rain Barrel Workshops with the Abington EAC

The Abington EAC will take orders for rain barrels from 11:00-3:00. Learn about the benefits of putting a rain barrel on your property by attending a workshop at the nursery at 12:00-12:30 or 2:00-2:30 and receive a $10 coupon towards the price of your rain barrel. Prices start at $40 for an unpainted barrel (price includes the $10 coupon). Barrels are also available with custom painting.
